TL;DR: DateScan runs entirely in your browser. Your camera feed, photos, and analysis never leave your device. We don't have a server that stores your images. This document explains the details in plain language.

1. Who We Are

DateScan ("we", "us", "our") is a web-based AI styling tool operated by the DateScan team. You can reach us at info@datescan.app. Our website is https://datescan.app/.

2. What Data We Collect

Camera feed and photos

When you use DateScan, your device camera captures a live video feed. This feed is processed entirely on your device using Google's MediaPipe face landmark model, which runs in your browser via WebGL. No frames, photos, or analysis results are ever uploaded to our servers — because we don't operate an analysis server.

Local storage on your device

DateScan saves small amounts of data in your browser's localStorage to remember your progress and preferences between visits. This data stays on your device and includes:

• Whether you completed the onboarding screen
• Your XP total, level, streak, and logged missions
• Your daily scan usage counter (resets each day)
• Your "Before You Leave" checklist state
• Whether you purchased a Pro plan

You can clear all of this at any time by clearing your browser's site data for datescan.app.

Technical logs

Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) automatically logs standard web request metadata such as IP address, browser user agent, and timestamps for security, abuse prevention, and analytics purposes. These logs are retained according to Cloudflare's standard retention periods.

What we do NOT collect

• We do not upload or store your photos or video frames on any server.
• We do not use your biometric data to identify you.
• We do not sell your data to advertisers or third parties.
• We do not require an account, email, or password to use the free tier.

3. Third-Party Services

To deliver DateScan, your browser loads assets from the following third parties. We do not control their privacy practices; please review their policies.

• Lemon Squeezy — payment processor and Merchant of Record. When you purchase a paid plan, Lemon Squeezy collects the data needed for billing (name, email, billing address, card details). DateScan never sees your full card number. Privacy policy
• Cloudflare — web hosting and CDN. Privacy policy
• Google Fonts — loads the Inter and Playfair Display typefaces. Privacy policy
• jsDelivr CDN — delivers the MediaPipe face landmark library. Privacy policy
• Tailwind CDN — delivers the CSS utility framework.

4. Cookies

DateScan itself does not set any cookies for tracking or advertising. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may set essential cookies for security, bot detection, and load balancing.

5. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

If you are located in the European Union, United Kingdom, or California, you have specific rights regarding your personal data:

• Right of access — request a copy of any personal data we hold about you (in practice, this is essentially nothing beyond server logs tied to your IP).
• Right to erasure — request deletion of any personal data. Since we don't store your photos or analysis, this mainly affects server logs.
• Right to rectification — correct inaccurate data.
• Right to object — object to how we process your data.
• Right to portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.

To exercise any of these rights, email info@datescan.app with the subject line "Privacy Request". We will respond within 30 days.

6. Children

DateScan is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has used DateScan, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.

7. Data Retention

Because we do not store your images or analysis results on a server, there is nothing on our end to retain. Data stored locally in your browser remains until you clear it. Server logs from our hosting provider are retained for a limited period for security purposes.

8. Security

All traffic to datescan.app is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. Since your sensitive data (camera feed) never leaves your device, the primary attack surface for your photos is your own device — please keep your browser and operating system up to date.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced on the homepage.
